If you are looking for fun in a little box then the Renault Clio R27 is the car. And on top of that the sort of fun offered by the R27 is very exclusive as the Renault will be made in very limited numbers.
Inspired by Formula 1
From the ground up, the Clio R27 was built to be a hotter than the outstanding Clio RS. But R27 takes things much further with a more sports focused chassis the first pointer being 10 percent more stiffness. The car is also said to be lower by 7mm which should make it easier to steer. There is also a rear air diffuser to aid with aerodynamics and to improve stability at varying speeds.
To put the cherry on top, the interior features names of Renault’s present formula one drivers namely Fernando Alonso and Nelson Piquet.
Cool Styling
Whereas an ordinary Clio looks very adorable and maybe a little plain, it is not a bad thing to be seen driving around in a R27. It looks sporty from all angles and most would notice the 17 inch alloy wheels that have a unique finish to them. There is also more tint for the windows. In any colour the car looks ready to zoom around with the more popular colours being yellow and red.R27 also features adaptive headlights(cornering lights) as well as electronically adjusted mirrors.
Performance
The little box is powered by a four cylinder 2 litre naturally aspirated engine capable of producing 145 kw of power while screaming at 7250 rpm. Torque is also an impressive 215 n.m at 5500 rpm.
Surprisingly for a car this size, the R27 is not that light with a weight of close to 1700kg. But this is not even an issue as 100km/h is reached in 6.9 seconds after having changed through the five of six gears. One other plus is the R27 is being graceful on fuel only sipping 8.4 l/100 km.
The small hatch segment is getting hotter with competitors throwing their small models with slightly bigger engines and hoping that would be the trick. However Renault have taken the time to created a car that is purposefully fun.
